The theme of the festival, “East meets West” and the location,Tokyo, challenged us to create an object that had to be custom for its place. This city, full of modern architecture and skyscrapers reminded us of crystals we had seen, which also has these very futuristic look with some kind of mystical chaos. During discussions we had around the festival theme, we came across the idea that the shortest way to Tokyo would be to go right through the earth instead of move around it like you would do with a plane. The beauty is that crystals outflow from magma, molten rocks that are located in the core of the earth. With the idea we were going to meet Tokyo it felt really logical and challenging to plant our own source, the city, and let it outflow from the core of a crystal.
In this project we needed to embrace traditional and new techniques because the object we wanted to create couldn’t be made without both of our specific skills. It was really important to come together, not to mix our specialty, but to find a place were we can meet and push each other further into a new direction. In research of this project we also explored our core of were we could meet in creating.
More pictures, documentation and 3d models will follow soon.
A symbol to bring individual spirits together. Individuality makes us lose our collective spirit. Humanity seems to have forgotten about our group nature. We bring you in touch with other spirits based on our basic human needs.

In commission by Oliver Weiter we where ask to build a light installation for him in the shape of his Dj name. After a very intensive week of working, where we order all the electrical equipment, lasercutted the digital designs and assemble the whole installation together it was exposed during the big party in the Paradiso, Amsterdam.
We used 202 lightbulbs, 202 bulb holders, 100 meter of electricity wiring, plywood, paint and 1000 bolts and nuts.
Input for this installation was the movie Soy Cuba. After taking a lot of data out of the movie I pixelated it and project it with a beamer on 20 motors with mirrors. How the motors move depends on the tint of each pixel what is projected on the motors.
The relation with music we have is central in this project. We both are musician’s with a mission to make a visual translations of what literally hear. The Visual
outcome are specific Shapes and Patterns. Shapes and Patterns are everywhere in nature and can be found in sound to. We did an audible research to be able to place this in to visuals. We thinks that music is not rely defined in representative visuals. The music tells a story in itself, videoclips do not support this. For us the challenge of studying sound (music in the case), and to make it visible.
A project I did together with Greta Stefanova in the first year of my interactive media design studie where we both worked on the conceptstory. Greta did the illustrations and I search for the right pictures and maked sure that the illustrations blend into the photo’s.
